What is a chemical skin peel and which skin types are suitable to have this treatment?

Prior to receiving a professional chemical peel treatment, it is vital that you have been given a thorough skin consultation.

At 360 Skin Studio we assess each client’s skin each and every time they’re in for a chemical peel to ensure that they’re still indicated for this advanced treatment.

We work with the Environ Cool Peel system as there’s a variety of peels that are suitable for all skin types, conditions and phototypes, the exception is a sensitive skin which should not be peeled.

Environ Cool Peels are unique, intelligent, non-invasive procedures, performed to remove dull, damaged skin cells, leaving the skin revived, radiant and beautiful, with no down-time. The most skin will look is slightly pink after a chemical peel and make-up can be applied immediately afterwards if required.

Only Drs, Nurses and qualified Beauty Therapists are able to work with Environ Professional products and skin care.

The objective of an Environ Cool Peel is to gently exfoliate and dissolve damaged skin cells, leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth without damaging or compromising the skin barrier. Skin regeneration occurs when receiving regular Environ Cool Peel treatments. This wonderful extra benefit triggers natural growth-factor release, to stimulate production of new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. The result is rejuvenated, dewy, soft skin with less visible lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, enlarged pores and breakouts.

There are a variety of safe, comfortable and effective, refining and exfoliating chemical peels in the Environ Professional range that your therapist will select from. Your therapist will personalise a Cool Peel skin treatment programme depending on your skin concern, and condition.

In your treatment we’ll apply either Trichloroacetic - (TCA) - a bio identical acetic acid originally from grapes, or Lactic Acid - nature identical to Lactic Acid. Lactic Acid has additional benefits to brighten freckles, sun damage and pigmentation and hydrates along with an effective exfoliation.

As you progress on your tailor-made skin treatment journey, we may alternate and/or change the strength of the chosen Cool Peel. This will depend on the health of your skin and skin concerns.

360 Skin Studio clients also love the results of the invigorating Environ Vibrant-C Micro Peel containing 20% Vitamin C and Salicylic Acid. The AHA and BHA combination creates a more radiant and youthful complexion. It helps improve the appearance of ageing, pigmentation, sun damage and all forms of scarring including post-acne.

Another peel favourite is the Environ Cool Peel10% Lactic Acid Gel. We call it a “Party Peel” as its suitable for everyone (apart from those with a sensitive skin). It’s wonderful to book this treatment prior to a special event as skin will look hydrated, smooth and fabulous!  If applying make-up afterwards, it will glide on beautifully and look even more incredible! It’s a perfect pick-me-up peel to receive anytime of the year!

For optimal results we recommend that skin that has been prepped with a suitable Vitamin A moisturiser prior to an Environ Cool Peel Treatment.

For ultimate results we recommend a course of 6 to 12 treatments. Skin conditions such as Acne and Rosacea are usually scheduled in weekly, whereas an ageing, dry, pigmented or dehydrated skin is more likely to be booked in fortnightly.

Mostly we recommend peel courses during the autumn and winter months to negate any possibility of over exposure from harsh UV rays during the summer months. UV can very easily trigger hyper-pigmentation and potential sun damage if you are not adequately protected with a suitable SPF. Acne and Rosacea skin conditions are the exception, depending on the outcome of the skin consultation they may be able to proceed with treatments during the summer months.

We request that you stop immediately any DIY at home treatments when coming in for a chemical peel, this includes any form of exfoliating granular scrub. Scrubs damage skin which quickly becomes compromised. Once the skin barrier is damage it readily becomes dry, red and/or sensitive. Exfoliating granular scrubs remove not only dead skin cells, but healthy ones as well, making skin not suited to receiving a Cool Peel Treatment.

The same applies to using over the counter AHA and BHA solutions prior to a peel - the risk of redness, sensitivity to your skin is not worth it!

Everyone’s skin, lifestyle and circumstances are unique, and this is why it is paramount to have your skin assessed by a professional, advanced skin therapist at 360 Skin Studio to receive the very best treatment and outcome for your skin.
