How to Improve your skin with the change of season

As winter approaches and the temperature drops, we naturally add on more layers of clothing to keep our bodies warm and protected from the harsh effects of colder temperatures.

Our skin needs this same added layer protection to shield. With autumn segueing into winter it’s the perfect time to introduce an extra level of nourishing and hydrating serums and creams.

Boosting moisture levels with added layers will help maintain the skin’s delicate water-proof protective barrier. Keeping skin soft, smooth and well moisturised will ensure your skin has more protection throughout the crisp chill of winter. The result will be plumped up fine lines and wrinkles and an overall hydrated, dewy glow.

Various factors can disrupt our skin barrier leaving it thick, dry, rough and uneven in texture.

It’s not just cold temperatures and chilling winds that irritate the skin’s delicate microbiome. The use of incorrect products or skin care routines can strip the acid mantle leaving skin vulnerable to dryness and sensitivity.

Clients often comment that they feel they have to resort to using thicker, heavier creams to counteract dryness, but what they don’t realise is that these occlusive creams are literally “tricking” the skin cells into thinking that they are no longer required to make moisture for the skin!

This actually leads to skin cells slowing down, or stopping altogether from producing moisture, which in turn leaves their skin feeling dry and tight - especially after washing it.

The only solution appears to be to apply “ a heavier” moisturiser so that it doesn’t  feel dry!  What a vicious cycle!

Over exfoliation is another trap! Granular exfoliants not only remove damaged skin cells they will also remove healthy ones too!

This in turn leaves the skin compromised, sensitive, flaky and dry. Once again, a vicious cycle as it appears that the only thing you can do to help it, is to scrub again!

My advice is to throw out your granular scrub if you’re currently using one – it is doing more harm than good, or at the very least put it in your shower to use on your body and heels only!

We want to encourage our skin to function normally. This can be done by applying Environ products which contain scientifically researched ingredients to naturally encourage a hydrated, normalised, and moisturised skin barrier that no longer feels dry or dehydrated.

I recommend using the Environ moisture boosting products below as they are designed to help maintain a soft, smooth hydrated skin throughout any seasonal changes and should ideally be used with your Environ Vitamin A Moisturiser for best results.

1. AHA Night Cream:

Is a Masque treatment that can be used up to 2-3 x per week. Apply your Environ night time Vitamin A moisturiser on top, you reap the rewards while sleeping – just rinse off in the morning. You will be amazed how soft and smooth your skin feels when used regularly! Great for the occasional blemish too!

Contains Lactic and Glycolic Acids (AHA’S) to gently dissolve dry, damaged skin cells and to  lighten, brighten and hydrate. Coconut esters give an extra moisturise boost.

2. Super Moisturiser:

This is  a multi award winning moisturiser that gives a rapid and intense moisture boost to skin which lasts up to 72 hours!

Use by making a skin cocktail - mix one pump of Super Moisturiser and one pump of  Environ Vitamin A Moisturiser and smooth over entire face, neck and decollete.

Contains jojoba and olive oils, and potent antioxidants of vitamins C, E and B5.

This luxurious cream has been proven to rapidly replenish moisture after just one application and skin hydration is doubled after 8 hours! Skin will be soft and dewy -there will be no more need to constantly reapply moisturiser during the day!

3. HA Intensive Hydrating Serum:

As we age, we lose the ability to produce enough of our own hyaluronic acid which shows in our skin as dull, dehydrated aged skin.

This silky serum leaves skin visibly smoother, plumper and more resilient.

Apply over entire skin prior to using your Environ Vitamin A moisturiser. To amplify results, use your Focus CIT stamp or cosmetic roller prior to application.

Contains low molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which is known as a moisture magnet.

HA can attract and hold 1000 times its own weight in water to prevent moisture leaving your skin leaving skin dewy and fresh!

4. Vita Antioxidant Hydrating Oil Capsules:

These little “capsules of gold” deliver a concentrated burst of vitamins including Retinol and other antioxidants to enrich skin with natural surface oils, boost hydration and protect skin, leaving it fresh and revitalised!

Use at night over face, neck and decollete as often as required. Apply on top of your Environ Vitamin A Moisturiser for an incredible moisture boost and protection from free radicals!
